Greg Sommers

Senior Vice President, Operations & Strategic Implementation

Greg Sommers brings to Mindful Philanthropy more than two decades of experience in philanthropy, non-profit leadership, and organizational strategy. Originally a teacher of students with learning and behavioral differences, his career includes key grantmaking roles at the Gates Foundation and the Bezos Family Foundation, where he advanced national education initiatives and strengthened connections between the science of adolescent development and adolescent learning experiences. As the Chief Impact Officer at the University of Washington Center for Educational Leadership, Greg guided strategy and operations for the national professional learning organization. 

At Mindful Philanthropy, Greg partners with the leadership team, staff, and Board to steward organizational growth and implementation of strategic priorities for impact, ensuring philanthropic resources translate into meaningful and measurable improvements in mental health and well-being. 

Greg received a BA in History as well as a Master of Teaching degree at the University of Virginia, and he earned an MBA from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. He is also a Pahara-Aspen education fellow. Greg lives in Seattle, WA with his spouse and three sons.
