
Michael Clark
Principal Officer of Government Performance, Pew Charitable Trusts
Michael is the chief strategic advisor to the head of Pew Charitable Trust’s Government Performance portfolio, which provides the research, solutions, and momentum decision-makers need to improve the health of people in the United States and enable them to successfully climb the economic ladder. Clark focuses on developing new strategies for existing Pew projects and exploring potential investments in new areas of work. He is actively exploring opportunities to address challenges related to the behavioral health workforce.
Prior to Pew, Clark led government affairs, communications, and campaigns for The Council of State Governments Justice Center, which included extensive policy and advocacy efforts in states and counties at the intersection of mental illness and the criminal justice system. Clark also consulted on public affairs strategies for a variety of philanthropies and corporations, including The Skoll Foundation, The Visiting Nurse Service of New York, HBO, and 20th Century Fox. Clark began his career as a journalist, writing for The Hartford Courant, The New York Post, and The Press of Atlantic City.
